About the position:

We’re looking for a strategic and highly influential Senior User Researcher to join Informa’s Product Design team. This role plays a critical part in shaping how user insight drives decision-making across a complex, global portfolio of digital products and platforms.

As a Senior User Researcher, you will operate across multiple teams or domains, leading complex research initiatives while also shaping research strategy, standards and ways of working. You will bring clarity to ambiguity, enabling teams to make better decisions through high-quality insight, structured thinking and strong communication.

You will work closely with Product, Design, Engineering and business stakeholders to define research priorities, guide execution and ensure insights are translated into meaningful product and service outcomes. Your impact will extend beyond individual projects, helping to build research capability, align teams and embed a culture of evidence-led decision making across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and shape research direction across multiple product areas or domains.
  • Align research activities to organisational goals, product strategy and customer outcomes.
  • Identify key knowledge gaps and ensure research is prioritised to maximise impact.
  • Translate insights into strategic recommendations that influence product and service direction.
  • Advocate for a consistent, evidence-led approach to decision making across teams.
  • Research Strategy & Delivery
    • Lead complex research programmes across discovery, evaluative and optimisation project phases.
    • Select and apply appropriate qualitative and quantitative methods for complex problem spaces.
    • Guide teams on research approaches, ensuring rigour, quality and relevance.
    • Synthesise findings into clear, actionable insights that inform product, service and experience decisions.
    • Ensure research outputs are accessible, impactful and aligned to stakeholder needs.
    • Balance hands-on research delivery with strategic oversight and advisory responsibilities.
  • Collaboration & Organisational Influence
    • Partner with senior stakeholders across Product, Design, Engineering and business teams.
    • Align teams around shared understanding of users, needs and priorities.
    • Influence decision making through strong storytelling, insight and credibility.
    • Navigate complex organisational dynamics, connecting teams and driving alignment.
    • Facilitate workshops, playback sessions and strategic discussions to embed insight into action.
    • Act as a connector across functions, bringing people together around shared goals and understanding.
  • Leadership & Research Capability
    • Build and scale research capability across teams by setting standards, frameworks and best practices.
    • Define and evolve research processes, tools and ways of working.
    • Identify gaps in skills, processes or structure and take ownership of improving them.
    • Mentor and support designers, researchers and product teams in applying research effectively.
    • Create conditions for teams to succeed with research, enabling faster, higher-quality decision making.
    • Promote inclusive, ethical and high-quality research practices across the organisation.
    • Insight, Systems Thinking & Continuous Improvement
    • Apply systems thinking to connect insights across journeys, products and organisational systems.
    • Identify patterns and trends across research to inform broader strategic direction.
    • Ensure insights are not siloed, but contribute to a shared understanding across teams.
    • Drive continuous improvement in how research is conducted, shared and applied.
    • Help teams move from insight to action, ensuring measurable impact on product and service outcomes.

Requirements:

  • This role is suited to a senior researcher who is comfortable operating across both strategic and operational levels, influencing outcomes and building research capability at scale.
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in the following areas:
  • Proven experience in User Research within complex, multi-product or platform environments.
  • Strong expertise across a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Experience leading research programmes and shaping research strategy across multiple teams.
  • Ability to synthesise complex inputs into clear, actionable insights and strategic direction.
  • Confidence influencing senior stakeholders and driving alignment across functions.
  • Strong facilitation, storytelling and communication skills.
  • Experience building or scaling research practices, frameworks or teams.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • A portfolio demonstrating both hands-on research impact and strategic influence.
  • Fluent English
  • Candidate needs to be to be currently eligible to work in Hungary.
